Engineers of the American branch of Honda offered a solution of a safe and comfortable off-road car of the new generation, combining a jeep and a minivan.

The Acura MDX model, produced in Canada, is made on the platform of the Honda Odissey minivan, and has already won respect as a solid off-road car for the middle class. It is a typical all-wheel-drive car which, in case of a reduction of the draft on one of the wheels, enables the rear axle, and if necessary, it will smoothly direct to it up to 53 % of the torsion torque. And this taking into account the fact that the description of Acura mdx lacks the habitual viscose coupling, and instead of the differential in the rear drive unit there are the lamellar couplers operated by the electronic "brain" by means of solenoids.

The transmission of Acura MDX named VTM-4 allows, on snow-covered roads, to demonstrated good off-road capabilities and stability. The Acura MDX car has a petrol engine with six cylinders, the power of 243 h.p., a 5-gear automatic gear-box, a 7-seat 5-door estate car hull, and reaches the maximal speed of up to 190 kmph, consuming 10,2 up to 13,8 l of fuel per 100 km.

According to opinions, Acura MDX has a mighty draft and soft switching of the gear-box, whereas the electronics itself arranges the algorithm of switching to the driving style. Tests of Acura MDX have shown, that this off-road car has a good dynamics not only in the city conditions, but also on easy off-roading.
